Middle-class buyers are very fond of the style of compact SUV cars. Perhaps this is because big car companies keep introducing something new in this segment. Recently Toyota’s Taisor and Mahindra’s 3XO have entered this segment.
Recently, two important companies have introduced their 5-seater cars in the sub-compact SUV segment, Mahindra’s XUV 3XO and Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Taisor. These cars, which have the power to drive on the highway, have many similar features and also come from the same price segment. Let us know what these two cars have to offer:
Mahindra XUV 3XO– Mahindra’s XUV range of cars has made a splash. The recently launched XUV 3XO is built on the same platform as its earlier XUV300. You can call it a facelift.
How is the engine: It has the same engine as the XUV 300. It comes with 1.2-litre turbo and TGDI petrol engines and 1.5-litre turbo diesel engines. Mileage is up to 20 kilometers per litre is claimed.
Gearbox: Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and a new 6-speed torque converter transmission.
Pickup power: It accelerates speed from 0 to 60 km/hr in 4.4 seconds.
Safety Features: Other safety features include 6 airbags, all 4 discs brakes, seat belt reminder, 5-star crash safety rating, ABS, EBD, hill assist, TPMS, etc. with standard Level 2 ADAS.
Other features: It has a 10.25-inch freestanding infotainment screen, dual-zone climate control system, all LED lighting, leatherette upholstery, wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play system, Adrenox connectivity, blind view monitoring 360 degrees camera and 17-inch stylish alloy wheels.
Boot Space: 295 litres.
Price: From Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant to Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top spec.
TOYOTA’S TAISOR-Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Taisor can be called a version of Maruti Suzuki’s Toyota Frocks.
Taisor will include both options of CNG and petrol.
Engine Powertrain: Taisor is offered with 1.2 litre naturally aspirated and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine options. Toyota is claimed to give mileage up to 22.79 km/l.
Gearbox Transmission Options: Both power engines get a 5-speed manual transmission, while the automatically aspirated motor gets a 5-speed MT, AMT and the turbo petrol gets a 6-speed torque converter.
Safety Features: In this, you will get 6 N airbags, ABS and EBD, 360 view camera, parking sensor, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Hill Hold Assist System.
Features: The sunroof option will not be available in Taisor. For connectivity, Taisor has many features like SmartPlay Cast touchscreen infotainment system, smartwatch connectivity, remote vehicle ignition, automatic climate control system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, head-up display, cruise control, automatic LED headlamps with DRL. This sub-compact SUV features a 6-speaker sound system, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a twin-pod instrument console with the MID unit in the middle.
Boot Space: It is 308 litres.
Price: Goes from Rs 7.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 12.87 lakh.
What is special between 3XO and TAISOR?
XUV 3XO: In this four-wheel drive option is available. The first car in its segment to offer a panoramic sunroof. More emphasis has been laid on safety. For the first time in India, a B-segment vehicle has got Level-2 ADAS. Many safety features have been taken from XUV700. Like Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking. It also performs well on various surfaces.
Toyota Taisor: It has a CNG option and is called an affordable car in its segment. More features will be available in top spec. The emphasis is more on styling. Its black and bold honeycomb mesh grille features the attractive Toyota logo in the centre and twin LED DRLs as USPs. The LED taillights have been improved, connecting through a light bar on the boot. There are also newly styled alloy wheels.
